We would like to take this opportunity to introduce Clowning Around to you. We are specialist childcare providers who provide a range of childcare service for a variety of partners throughout the region as well as running our own Breakfast and After School Club and Pre-School (Our Pre-School is curently closed). Clowning Around provides Ofsted registered quality childcare services for children aged 0 – 11 years.
Clowning Around’s mission is to support local families who wish to work, study or play by providing good quality and affordable childcare. Where children are provided with a safe, nurturing and fun environment.
Our Childcare Services
BREAKFAST & AFTER SCHOOL CLUB
Clowning Around is a specialist child care providers who run the After School and Breakfast Club at Ravenswood Play and Youth Centre. Clowning Around provides Ofsted registered quality childcare services for children 4 – 11 years.
7.30am and 9.00am Monday to Friday
3.15pm and 5.45pm, Monday to Friday
UNFORTUNATELY OUR PRE-SCHOOL IS CURRENTLY CLOSED DUE TO COVID 19
At Pre-School we aim to make this transition as smooth as possible by creating a friendly and positive environment where your child can feel safe and confident.

MOBILE CRECHE
As a mobile crèche provider, Clowning Around provides the opportunity for quality, onsite Ofsted Registered childcare when and where you need it, without the expense and work involved in maintaining a permanent provision. As such our crèches represent real value for money when it comes to ensuring attendance at your events.

Develop close links with Ravenswood Primary School and other partners so as to contribute to improving outcomes for children.
Our staff team are all qualified in childcare and any new members of staff undergo training while employed in line with Ofsted and the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework requirements. Further training is made available to all staff to ensure that they are kept up to date with all new legislation.
We undertake Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks (previously CRB checks) on all staff and volunteers for the safety of both the staff and the children.

Clowning Around operates a Playwork based service. This means that we aim to support children’s natural ability to play in a way that enables them to learn and develop as individuals and members of the community, in a fun, child-centred, secure environment.

We believe children are natural learners, soaking up the world around them like sponges. We share the image of children as being creative, resourceful, powerful, and capable human beings.
Our learning environments are designed to encourage curiosity and the excitement of discovery and encourage children to explore and use all 5 senses to experience the world around them.

Our open space learning environment model will be designed to create a family home like environment that will encourage freedom of choice and relationship building.
Our curriculum will follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) 7 areas of learning and development and will be hidden within a fun atmosphere of play.
